The Dojo Code is the code of conduct under which the Art of Karate is
practised. Staffordshire Wado-Ryu Karate-Do emphasises the character
building aspects of Karate in which respect for the dojo, instructors
and fellow students is an essential principle.
The ultimate aim of the Art of Karate lies not in victory or defeat but
in the perfection of the character of its participants through hard
training, sincerity, effort, etiquette and self-control.
Bow on entering or leaving the dojo.
Address all Instructors as Sensei whilst in the Dojo.
Members must not leave the class without first obtaining
permission from Sensei.
Members arriving late must take up a kneeling or sitting position at the
front of the Dojo and await permission from Sensei before joining the
class. On receiving permission, bow then join the class.
Karate Gis must be kept clean and in good condition. If your Gi needs to
be adjusted during training, drop to one knee whilst doing so.
Finger and toe nails must be kept clean and short.
Jewellery and the like must not be worn during training. If jewellery
can not be removed it must be covered by tape. If glasses need to be
worn then Members do so at their own risk.
As a Member of Staffordshire Wado Ryu Karate-Do you must not behave in
any manner that is likely to offend the etiquette of the Dojo or cause
embarrassment to the club or the Art of Karate.
